WCC
Waterford Chamber of Commerce (WCC) was established in 1787 and since then has played a key role in business in Waterford and the South East as the leading business representative organisation and with a membership of over 320 businesses in Waterford city.
WCC is a member of ‘South East Chambers’ a grouping of 9 Chambers of Commerce from across the South East region, representing businesses on a regional basis and coming together in co-operation to represent the interests and needs of South East. The South East Chambers platform supports Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) in reaching clients across the South East by assisting with communication, promotion, event planning and referral of clients to EEN services.
WCC regularly holds “needs analysis” workshops with its members to identify issues that are common to a large number of stakeholders in the region. One issue that has become a growing matter of concern is the subject of Work Related Stress (WRS) and its impact on employee health and overall performance of the organisation. The chamber has received queries on WRS from employees, employers and representative bodies that relate to many aspects of dealing with workplace stress; but the main source is employers who are looking for clarity on potential causes, suggested remedies and prevention strategies. Based on this growing concern the Chamber has allocated resources to heighten awareness of the issue and identify innovative remedies through its JEI group and provide appropriate train though its Skillnet network.
